Salvatore Di Pasquale (1931-2004)

 

Biography

He got the university degree in Naples in December 1955 from the Faculty of Architecture. Here he was professor of “Geometria descrittiva” (1961-1968) and “Ponti e grandi strutture (1968-1970). Since 1976 he has been professor of “Statica e stabilità dei monumenti” (1976-2004) at the “Scuola di Specializzazione in Restauro dei Monumenti”, University Federico II, Naples. In 1964 he became professor of “Scienza delle Costruzioni” and in 1973 “Professore ordinario” (Full professor). Since 1971 (1971-1997) he has been working at the University of Florence, Architecture Faculty, as a professor of “Scienza delle Costruzioni”, “Statica” and “Progettazione di grandi strutture”. In Florence he was head director of the Architecture Faculty from 1986 to 1992 and head of the department of “Costruzioni” in the same Faculty (1983-1995). During the years 1976-2004 he was Professor of “Statique des constructions en maçonnerie”, for the “Centre d’études pour la conservation du patrimoine architectural et urbain R. Lemaire”, Louvain. In 1998 he started teaching “Statica” and “Scienza delle Costruzioni” at the Architecture Faculty in Catania, where he was also director. Moreover, during the years 1970-2004 he has been teaching at the Faculties of Architecture in Pescara, Ferrara, Venezia, Milano (Bovisa).
He was member of the advisory board of “Meccanica” (Journal of AIMETA, Associazione Italiana Meccanica Teorica e Applicata) and of “Palladio” (Journal for the history of architecture and restoration).
